
NUS Cuesports Club will be organizing its annual NUS 8 Ball Carnival 2011 on the Saturday, 17th September 2011.
It will be a simple 8 Ball League, for all NUS students, staffs, and alumni to come together to bond, make friends, and have fun together. And of course, for our dear recreational players to see how much have they learn during the short 4 weeks of training with our in-house coach.
Event Details
Date: Week 6′s Saturday, 17th September 2011
Time: 10 AM – 6 PM
Venue: West Coast Billiard Saloon @ West Coast Recreational Centre
Format: Race to 3 for men, Race to 2 for ladies for first 2 rounds
(Selected IVP players will be seeded, and will give handicap to non-IVP players)
Competition Format
For the Male Category
- Race to 3 racks for the First 3 Rounds
- Race to 3 racks for the Quarter-Finals
- Race to 4 racks for the Semi-Finals
- Race to 5 racks for the Finals
For the Female Category
- Race to 2 racks for the First 2 Rounds
- Race to 2 racks for the Quarter-Finals
- Race to 3 racks for the Semi-Finals
- Race to 4 racks for the Finals
For both Male and Female Competitive Category
- Inter-Varsity Players (IVP), who plays against a Non-IVP, will need to win an additional rack on top of the required racks in that round until the Quarter-Finals.
- Seeded Players, who plays against a Non-SP, will need to win an additional rack on top of the required racks in that round until the Quarter-Finals.
- The time allowed for each rack is estimated to take an average of 10 minutes to complete. In the event of any game exceeding stipulated time, a shot clock rule of 1 minute will be implemented and an umpire will facilitate the shot clock. Only 1 extension is allowed per rack.
- In the event of a player being late for a match within the 15 minutes mark, the player who is late will lose a rack. If a player is late for more than 15 minutes, it will be considered as a loss and a walkover.

Rules & Regulations
- The competition will proceed as dictated on the competition’s fixtures.
- The player winning the lag has the option to determine who has to execute the first break shot.
- Competition will be the standard alternate breaking format. The breaker will have to rack the balls themselves.
- In face of a potential foul shot, it is the opponent’s responsibility to call for the umpire to view the shot before the shot is taken. The umpire will not call a foul on a game he is viewing even if he sees a foul. The umpire will only decide on a foul if and only if player calls for the umpire BEFORE his opponent takes the shot.
- Players can ask for clarification of rules through the umpire.

- Once an umpire makes a decision, the decision is final.
